Grow Dat Youth Farm - Reflections
This field trip was very eye opening. I haven’t been to a farm or been in a farm like setting so it was a new experience for me. It was very interesting to learn things about how certain crops grow in different climates. For example we talked about different summer crops such as watermelon, citrus fruit, etc. This was not only interesting to me but it made me think. Many main foods aren’t able to grow through the year. Therefore, they need these specific enviornmental condictions to thrive. One main reason for this trip was to contemplate how things are affected because of climate change; it was made clear that these crops will start to get scarce as climate change continue to effect the environment. For example winter crops will get scarce as global warming increase the temperature. This will eventually lead to many problem that can ultimately result in a decrease of population. I feel many more people who grew up in city areas should visit farms. This field trip could make many others realize just how much climate change is effecting us in the long run.
