The article “Reflections on climate change communication research and practice in the second decade of the 21st century: what more is there to say” focuses primary on the improvement of climate change communication from earlier days to now. They describe the communication as being “no longer the largely uncharted wilderness.” To see it as no longer being uncharted or a wilderness means that significant gain is being made is this department. However it doesn’t just stop there. Climate activist has found better ways to communicate the effects of climate change along with how we can come together and alleviate it. The article says, “appreciable advancements in climate change awareness and majority support for climate and clean energy politics.” This may not seem very important but it is. As you can see climate communication has always been very challenging and the field has been very barren. However, now significant strides have been taken to ensure that climate communications can thrive.
This article was very informative to me. I never knew that climate communication had such an important role. When you normally think of climate change the last thing I think of is it being communicated. I hav always been informed and educated on climate change; however this article helps me realize that not every one has. It seems like a newly explored field. It also reminds me how important it is. Without the communication aspect many people would be left clueless of these things going on. For example the super typhoon that hit the Philippine islands; many people including myself may have not heard of these storms. However as the field of climate communication start to increase many people will have the opportunity to hear and take action.
