Summary:The article “The Polar Vortex Has Fallen Apart, Which is Likely to Unleash a Much Colder End to January” was published in 2019.It discusses how The polar vortex has fractured, and the eastern U.S. faces a punishing stretch of winter weather. The polar vortex is an upper-level low-pressure area lying near one of the Earth's poles. There are two polar vortices in the Earth's atmosphere, overlying the North and South Poles. Even though the vortex split around the start of the New Year, it often takes weeks for the effects to become apparent. After the vortex fractures, it can fundamentally alter the flow in the atmosphere. Steering winds which blow from west to east.Arctic air can more readily be drawn into the North America and Europe. The North Pole warmed dramatically in early January. And by the end of January Eastern states began to see The worst cold and winter weather ever. A split in the polar vortex could result in some pretty extreme winter temperatures, according to climate researchers. The polar vortex, where cold air mixes with low pressure around both poles, tends to weaken during the summer months and strengthens in the winter, according to the National Weather Service. A strong polar vortex configuration in November 2013. A more typical weak polar vortex on January 5, 2014.The 2019 Farmers' Almanac bills its 2018-2019 winter outlook, which calls for “teeth-chattering cold” across much of the nation, as “flake news”. I didn’t like that there wasn’t much information about the overall effects on people's daily lives. In the article I would have added information an the damaged and how it affected the people. On the other hand i would recommend this article the other because it helps give a greater example of climate change.
