The Katrina-Interactive-Timeline showed the time that Katrina hit certain areas and the impact of it on the area. In Southeast Louisiana Land Loss, it shows the land that has been lost and it provides statistics to go along with it. In Louisiana Oil and Gas Infrastructure, it shows the active and inactive oil wells within and outside of Louisiana coastal areas. In NOAASea Level Rise Viewer it's like a personal interactive because we can type in a specific area and see the water level of that area and the vulnerability level of that specific area as well. In EJ Environmental Atlas teaches us the invisible conflicts that are taking place in the world and it focuses on different conflicts in different areas. In EPA EJ Views it is a map that focuses on environmental justice in the world. The thing that all of these sites have in common is they are all forms of digital media that helps us better understand information because we can see it for ourselves and because there is a variety of digital media, we can find the one that works best for our needs.
I actually liked the interactive, because it gave me a chance to see things from my self. I feel as if digital media like this helps us gain information more because we don't really believe in things unless we have a visual seeing of things. I feel as if we are like climate deniers in a way, where people can tell us something, but we won't take it as seriously if we are not able to see it for ourselves. It helped me see things from a different perspective and how each parish and area was affected by Katrina and it helps me see who had it the hardest and pretty much shows the resilience that each area was able to do in a matter of time. The same goes for the maps. Visual learning is better, especially for those who can't read.
Keywords: resilience- the capacity to recover quickly from hard times.
Adaptation-the process of adapting, meaning settling down somewhere.
