The Frontline of Refusal: indigenous women warriors of standing rock article by Temryss MacLean Lane talks about indigenous women fighting for their land and their refusal to give it up.This article talks about how some indigenous people don’t have pride in their culture. This lack of pride cause a lot of anxiety, suicide, etc. In order to overcome this obstacle they created a program called the “Revitalization program”. This program Encourage and help the Indigenous people reclaim their pride through their language. This camp where the program is held is held on a battleground. The article Pipeline Resistance Confronts Big Oil in the Bayou by Mariya Strauss introduces many organizations involved with the fight against pipeline. These organizations include: Louisiana Bucket Brigade, Bold Louisiana, 350 New Orleans, and Gulf Restoration Network.
I really enjoyed reading these articles. They taught me a lot of new information that I didn’t know previously such as the fight Indigenous women are going through. I believe these reading don’t have many gaps seeing that they both have emotional appeal and logic and data. I liked these articles and the way they announced the problem and gave first hand interpretations of how people are people affected and how they are fighting. I would recommend this article for everyone to read, especially for people who aren’t aware of the situation.
