Week 9
Week nine's work is composed of several maps, that can give you a timeline of Katrina and the after effects of it. As you click through the first map it shows the city of New Orleans and a time line of what wards flooded first and last. It also shows the specific time and direction of the flood. The several other text give information about the sea level rise, the oil and gas infrastructure, and the land loss of New Orleans during and after the flood.
I like this weeks information because it give an insight of the damage of Katrina. I've heard people say that they were not down here but it couldn't have been that bad. If i showed them this text today it would show him the severity of this storm and how many families and communities it ruined. Some areas of land where under up to 10 feet of water. And some people are just finding the relatives they lost contact with in the flood.
infrastructure - the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.
vulnerability - the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.
engulf - sweep over (something) so as to surround or cover it completely.
