Communication through art
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler is about the main character basically creating her own religion called earthseed and as she take her journey through the town she’s planting a seed of change within people. She was a sci fi and humanity and uncertain futures. This book correlates with climate change because in the book it’s the prediction of the future after the world has ended. The main character explains how stuff used to be. She states that the her step mother wasn’t able to see the stars in the past as she could see them in her current life. In addition to the book it’s cool to hear and visualize how climate change is destroying the world.
This week was by far my favorite week because I love Octavia Butler and I love music. It was interesting learning more about her and what the deeper message of her book. I read the book in 9th grade and the theory of the book still sits with me until this day. The way that Octavia Butler writers is very intriguing. The videos are very entertaining and informational also. It is amazing how art can be used in such a way to inform and unify people.
