Digital Activism
This week’s text focused on digital activism and how it can be good for social movements but also the cons to this form of awarness. 'Latinos Leading on Climate Change' by Shravya was focused on highlighting young latino youth that were leading their community and creating change revolving around the concept of climate change and environmental justice. 'Bringing the Organization Back in: Social Media and Social Movements' by Jen Schradie highlighted the fact that social media is the base ground in our society as of this generation. It can be used to unite people all over the world in order to fight against social problems. On the other hand it also explains how it can be a negative factor in leading social movements because it often becomes leaderless and self destruct because there is no one there doing the actual action behind all the support. All the text was revolved around the fact that digital activism can be powerful when used and produced correctly.
This week's text was not so bad. It gave me different ideas for my end of the class project and also inspired me to do more for the community. It was really great to see how many young people who are involved in making our earth safe enough for us to survive. It was also funny seeing Ms. Frances Robert Gregory on one of the articles. It lets me know that not only is she teaching us the way to revive the world she is also involved with rewatching our issue.
