The name of the article I’m using is “‘Climate change is for real,’ and these New Orleans
residents are trying to combat it”, written by Katy Reckdahl and published by
The New Orleans Advocate in October 2018. The article talked about the things
people are doing to address and change current problems in New Orleans. I
thought it was interesting to find the process, facilitated by the Gulf Coast
Center for Law and Policy, addressing current problems in New Orleans felt
similar to post-Katrina community-input charretes for people who participated.
I believe the process which was lead was the beginning and an effective way to
make the community begin thinking about the things that need to be changed in
their communities. This event relates to my everyday life because I am a part
of my community and what happens in my community affects my life day in and day
out. The article reminds me of some of the tactics people used to begin
starting to think about the ways that they are going to address the problems in
their neighborhoods and communities. I would improve this article by adding
more of the next steps and create a follow up article that list and discusses
the change that was made. I would suggests this article to peers and family
because I feel like it was a successful start to a bigger conversation.
Great idea. Make sure you shoot all footage this week so you can edit next week.
