In Bringing the Organization Back In: Social
Media and Social Movements by Jen Schradie, the role of social media is
analyzed for its importance in communities and also how it could hurt a social
movement. In It takes more than social media to make a social movement by
Hayley Tsukayama the use of social media used by the president to influence
people, however it shows him also spreading knowledge to his opposers which is
the downside to social media. The Bringing the Organization Back In: Social Media
and Social Movements texts seems more relevant to me because it is more
relatable.
I believe that using digital platforms to move
and get people motivated is a great idea. Social media is a huge part of
society now and even the president is using social media in the same amnner and
trying to motivate people so why not use social media for a great cause. While
some people may take social media as a joke or not as serious as other things I
feel it has become a part of society. I agree more with using social media as a
platform because it gets to more people and more people have access to social
media.
